SPEFA is the third component of Local Government Capacity Support Project (LGCSP) to stimulate demand for financial accountability from Urban Assemblies by the civil society.
Through Fora and Town Hall meetings community stakeholders were imparted with knowledge in Public Financial Management processes, participation and demand for accountability in governance.
Argo/Taarifa is an ICT-based social accountability tool that is utilized through an ICT Knowledge Platform for Accountability and Service Delivery, with the basic aim of promoting sustainable governance and addressing developmental challenges through community accountability. Taarifa Smartphone ICT based project has seen its full upscaling in all Greater Accra Metropolitan Areas (GAMA). Implementation of the project beginning September, 2016 has experienced massive acceptance both at the community and, Metropolitan and Municipal Assemblies (MMAs) levels.
Land Services and Citizenship project (LSC I&II), targeted building the capacity of the urban poor for inclusive development in Ghana. Project led to increasing public knowledge and information available on the magnitude and characteristics of settlements of the urban poor in Greater Accra Metropolitan Area (GAMA) as well as strengthen the capacity of communities to actively engage in constructive, results-oriented local government-community dialogue.
This is a partnership project with Land Resource Management Centre (LRMC) and KNUST to enhance informal dwellers in taking lead in improving governance of their settlements through an improved community structures, especially in the urban areas. The project has focused on three communities; Agbogbloshie, Chorkor and Madina.
