The Ghana Alliance of SDI (ie. network of community-based organization of the urban poor in 33 countries) played host for the 4th time to the West African Hub meeting from 19th to 22nd October, 2015. In the face of recent news of evictions and demolitions in poor urban areas in the sub-region, the theme for the meeting was “Alternative Strategies to Evictions. SDI’s countries shared experiences on slum development and improvement regarding mapping, savings and mobilization. The deliberations and discussions on the theme, culminated in a press soiree where a joint communique on forced eviction was presented and published in the local media of the various countries.
